Hawaii’s Dillon Gabriel makes NFL debut for Cleveland Browns

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hawaii’s Dillon Gabriel made his NFL debut with the Cleveland Browns on Saturday.

Gabriel got the start for the Browns in their preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The lefty trigger man did not dress last week due to a hamstring injury, but finally saw NFL action.

It was an up and down day for the Mililani alum, completing 13 of his 18 passes for 143 yards with one pick that was taken back for a score.

Gabriel played the first half and admits he’s still learning.

“A lot of fun, a lot of learning for sure, but all things you can take with you and just that environment, you know, you get out there, you get excited,” Gabriel told the local Cleveland media. “You know Hawaii is special, a lot of people have done it before me, I’m just doing it right now and there’s gonna be a lot of guys after me, so I wanna represent them in the right way."

The Cleveland Browns would go on to beat the reigning Super Bowl Champs, 22-13.

Cleveland next plays the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday.
