Benjamin Sesko sends message to Manchester United fans after making debut vs Arsenal

Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko came off the bench to make his debut against Arsenal.

A year ago Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee made a decisive impact as a substitute to score the winner on his debut for the club.

There was no repeat for Benjamin Sesko on his debut for Manchester United, with the ball not falling kindly for the Slovenian.

Sesko was a second half substitute, coming on in the 65th minute for Mason Mount during Manchester United’s 1-0 defeat.

Benjamin Sesko sends message

Benjamin Sesko cost Manchester United £66 million from RB Leipzig, with the striker sealing his move in early August.

Sesko was presented ahead of the friendly game with Fiorentina, after putting pen to paper on a five-year deal.

Just one week later he played his first game, thrust into the action with United chasing a goal against Arsenal.

Sesko posted to Instagram after the game, reflecting on the experience.

He wrote: “Proud to make my debut at Old Trafford, the Theatre of Dreams ❤️🏟️

“It wasn’t our day today, a tough and unlucky game, but we will keep pushing forward and giving our best together. This is only the beginning! Come on, @manchesterunited 👊🏻”

How Benjamin Sesko fared

Manchester United attempted 22 shots at goal during the 1-0 defeat to Arsenal. Sesko had two efforts, with both falling off target. Neither opportunity came from a clear cut chance.

Sesko only had seven touches, with four falling inside the box. He won one aerial duel from the two he contested.

United created chances in the first half without Sesko that a striker could have benefited from, had he been on the pitch.

With two upcoming games against Fulham and then Burnley, the Slovenian will be keen to get into the starting line-up, and on the scoresheet.
