Vitor Pereira's side lost the game 4-0, but Wolves looked threatening during lengthy periods, before eventually succumbing to Manchester City's quality.
"It's not the start we wanted, but for half an hour, it was going pretty well," said Larsen.
"I think we need to look beyond the result, because it's not a zero-four game, definitely not.
"I think we got unlucky a little bit in moments where we could have hurt them. I had a shot blocked that would have gone in. Marshall was offside when he scored.
"They were better in both boxes. They were not conceding on the counter attack and we need to need to improve that, but obviously it's one of the best clubs in the world.
"It's hard to play against them when they first turn it on, but I think we should be proud of ourselves because the first half is quite good and then until they scored the third, it was still good.
"We just need to keep on going and not look too much at the result."
Despite the heavy defeat, the Norwegian international still feels there is positive momentum at the club.
"The way we played compared to the previous season is not like it's two different worlds and I think we should be proud of ourselves.
"Obviously we're not happy with a loss, if we could have hurt them, the game could have been different.
"We could have been one up at half-time and then it’s a totally different game.
"But it's the details in football and that's that's obviously annoying right now, but the only thing we can do is just look at the past games we've won.
Strand Larsen hit an impressive 14 goals in his debut season in the Premier League and expects to improve with the help of players around him.
"I think we have loads of good players that can help me this year," added the 25-year-old.
"Marshall (Munetsi) is a different kind of player fighting, runs hard, gets into space behind and he he lets me play my football a little bit more, so I don't need to always be the big man.
"He (Munetsi) can be the target man up top and I can also be kind of a playmaker, sometimes drop into different positions. I think we're we have a good relationship.
"It's the same with JJ (Bellegarde) and he's been a really important player for me, giving me a lot of assists last season.
And Larsen believes the arrivals of Fer Lopez and Jhon Arias can both make a real impact.
"With Fer (Lopez) and Jhon (Arias) coming in, they will just need some time and then we're going to be a really good attacking this year.
"They need time, the same with me actually last season. You come into a new league and actually to score fourteen goals, I don't think anyone probably would have expected that.
"But it's the Premier League, it's time to put the working boots on and they need to show that they're fit to play in this division.
"I think both of them can do what Matheus (Cunha) did, but obviously he's a class player and then he went (to Manchester United) for a reason.
"We just now need to work out how to be be a team again, like we did in the six wins in a row last season, because then we were unbeatable."
