Liverpool enter the final two weeks of the summer transfer window still looking to complete some key business. Despite securing several new faces earlier in the window, manager Arne Slot is understood to still be keen to add further reinforcements to his squad.

The new season started in dramatic fashion with a 4-2 win over Bournemouth at Anfield. Federico Chiesa was the hero, scoring the crucial goal in the 88th minute before Mohamed Salah put a shine on the result in the 94th minute in what was an emotional night at Anfield with tributes paid to Diogo Jota.

The Reds are back in action a week on Monday when they face Newcastle United at St James’ Park. One of the main talking points ahead of the game is likely to be the future of Alexander Isak.

Clubs have until 7pm on September 1 to complete their business. With that in mind, we’ve taken a look at a couple of the latest stories from in and around Anfield.

Alexander Isak transfer domino

Liverpool could have been given a small boost in their hopes of signing Alexander Isak this summer, with some transfer dominos starting to fall into place. With Liverpool’s Ben Doak looking like he’s heading to Bournemouth, the Cherries have sanctioned a move for Dango Outtara to move to Brentford.

That could then allow Yoane Wissa to move from Brentford to Newcastle United. If the Magpies manage to bring in Wissa, then they could potentially be more open to an Isak sale, having strengthened their centre-forward options.

New centre-back linked

Liverpool are among the teams to be linked with a surprising interest in Brentford centre-back Nathan Collins, according to the Mail. The report says that the Reds, along with Man United and Tottenham are all targeting a move for the 24-year-old.

Liverpool are on the search for defensive reinforcements before the end of the window. Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi is the most heavily linked with a move to Anfield. If the Reds look for more defenders between now and the end of the window is still to be seen.
