Real Betis have stormed into the chase for Arsenal’s £200,000-a-week defender Oleksandr Zinchenko.
Spanish side Real Betis showing interest in Zinchenko
La Liga club Real Betis are interested in **Arsenal**‘s Oleksandr Zinchenko for this summer window. The Spanish side will look to add some strength in their squad ahead of another European campaign.
Zinchenko was an important player in the plans of Mikel Arteta, after Arsenal signed him in 2022. The defender played at left-back, and occasionally moved into midfield. But last season was a completely different world. Injuries and competition pulled him off the pitch all too often.
Meanwhile, Riccardo Calafiori cemented a starting left-back position. Additionally, young player, Myles Lewis-Skelly made is mark as well. With Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard owning the midfield, Zinchenko has lost his place at Arsenal. This created space for doubts around his future. Now, Betis are planning to make a move for the left-back

Arsenal to work on their exits
The Gunners have been busy shaping their squad for the new campaign. The North London side have made plenty of new signings this transfer window. With such depth now in Arteta’s squad, Zinchenko faces the risk of another season on the bench. At 28, he is too experienced to settle for a bench role. That is especially with next year’s World Cup just on the horizon.
That said, Betis could offer him important minutes as either a left-back or midfielder. The club were last year’s runners-up in the Conference League as well. And at £200k-per-week, the desire to have regular football might be more than money.
If the Spanish club comes in with a right offer, Zinchenko could very easily be swayed to trade North London for Seville. He will likely be ready for a new chapter in his career.
