Journalist: 'Exceptional' player is now 'very likely' to leave Arsenal after missing 1-0 win over Man Utd

Mikel Arteta has some talented players who rarely get a chance at Arsenal nowadays, given the quality of the squad.

The likes of Ethan Nwaneri and Jurrien Timber were only named on the bench by Mikel Arteta for the 1-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday, joined by other talents such as Noni Madueke, Kai Havertz, Mikel Merino, Leandro Trossard and Myles Lewis-Skelly.

There was not even room for Jakub Kiwior – a man who shone against Real Madrid last season – on the bench after the arrival of Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia, and the Poland international may well have already played his final game for Arsenal.

Porto now “likely” to sign Jakub Kiwior

Polish journalist Tomasz Włodarczyk claims that a move to Porto is now “very likely” for the Arsenal No.15 as talks progress.

🚨 Jakub Kiwior może opuścić Arsenal! Dziś poza kadrą meczową vs Man Utd. Trwają rozmowy w sprawie transferu.

Bardzo prawdopodobne FC Porto, które w lipcu wysłało oficjalną ofertę. Smoki nie zrezygnowały z tego tematu.

It is said that Kiwior – who Arteta called “exceptional” – wants to leave England, having found opportunities hard to come by due to the presence of Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba.

Włodarczyk also suggests that the 25-year-old was left out at Old Trafford due to a potential transfer.

It comes after Portuguese news outlet A Bola wrote that Porto had backed away from Kiwior after Andrea Berta demanded £26m for the Pole, although Włodarczyk states that they are refusing to give up on a deal.

Jakub Kiwior sale could open up some doors for Arsenal

Arsenal paid £20m to sign Kiwior from Spezia back in January 2023 – so whilst Włodarczyk does not mention a fee, you would presume Berta is unlikely to sell the defender for a loss, given his obvious talent.

The man born in Tychy also earns £58,000-a-week in north London, so if Arsenal do receive a fee of at least £20m, it would be a significant financial boost that could be reinvested in another new addition, or more.

TBR Football understand Arsenal have cooled interest in Eberechi Eze after deciding not to block Nwaneri from playing centrally, so the Crystal Palace No.10 no longer seems to be a target.

However, Rodrygo is still of interest to Arsenal as his future at Real Madrid remains uncertain, so the sale of Kiwior could potentially help finance a deal for the Brazilian.
