The Wolves player who recorded a top speed even faster than Erling Haaland in Man City loss

It was a tough day at the office for Wolves against Man City, but there are a couple of positives to take from the heavy loss.

Wolves were bested in their opening game of the new campaign, as visitors Man City comfortably dispatched Vitor Pereira’s side 4-0.

Erling Haaland delivered as usual, scoring a brace to take his total tally against Wolves to ten goals, more than he has managed against any other Premier League side.

But despite his flying form at the weekend, one Wolves player surprisingly bested him in top speed.

David Moller Wolfe records highest top speed for Wolves against Man City

Wolves threatened at points in the game, mostly in the first half and mostly in transitional moments. They used the flanks well to progress the ball up the pitch, and new signing David Moller Wolfe showed his ability to bomb on.

He recorded a top speed of 33.2km/h, the fastest of any Wolves player and better than Haaland’s 32.9km/h.

That kind of pace will come in very handy as he looks to fill the attacking role left vacant by Rayan Ait-Nouri.

The Algerian’s first game back at Molineux was a reminder of the ability Wolves have lost, with Ait-Nouri clocking an even higher top speed than Moller Wolfe and locking down the right side of Wolves’ attack.

Despite Moller Wolfe’s impressive top speed, when looking at both teams, City were by far the more explosive, covering more ground and easily countering with pace and quick passing.

Wolves’ defence looked vulnerable against the swift counter-attacks and line breaks executed by Pep Guardiola and his City players.

The second goal epitomised this, as an error from Emmanuel Agbadou was pounced upon and just seconds later, the ball was in the net.

Defensively, Wolves weren’t convincing, raising eyebrows over the players in the squad and perhaps pushing fans to look for a new signing at the back.
