AS Roma have identified Aston Villa’s Leon Bailey to improve their attack this summer and have made advances to sign him.
Two days ago, Sport Mediaset reported the 28-year-old is favouring the Serie A side over others. They also stated the move will be a loan with an option to buy and is near completion.
Later that day, journalist Orazio Accomando reported Aston Villa director Monchi is in constant contact with Roma sporting director Frederic Massara, trying to reach a full agreement.
Bailey’s agent Craig Butler has told The Gleaner there are five clubs keen on signing him and talked up the option of his client joining the Italian club.
“There are around five clubs who are interested in the player, but he is still a Villa player, and that is where he is focused on at this time,” he said.
“Roma is a beautiful club and city, so any opportunity that comes from them has to be taken seriously and considered.”
LaRoma24 provides the latest on the Giallorossi’s ongoing pursuit of the winger. Among the incoming operations, the Aston Villa player is said to be the closest to arriving.
The Jamaica international’s agent arrived in Italy to get the operation over the line. There is progress as the report adds ‘negotiations with Aston Villa are now in the final stages’.
Journalist Ilario Di Giovambattista took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to back it up and he reports Bailey will arrive between Monday and Tuesday for medical. Barring any last-minute surprises, this operation should be finalised soon.
