The 2025/26 Premier League campaign kicked off at Anfield on Friday night as the Premier League champions hosted AFC Bournemouth.
Unfortunately, the game was overshadowed by a Liverpool supporter approaching Antoine Semenyo during the game and allegedly racially abusing him.

Really impressive performance, and as said by others 4-2 really flattered Liverpool. Doesn’t seem that long ago we were being hammered 9-0 up there and deserved it – tonight evidenced a stirring comeback from the boys and really took the game to Liverpool on their own patch. Thought maybe Phil Bill could’ve added something in the final ten minutes, but AI knows better than me I guess!
Just to add – safe journey to all you AFCB foot soldiers who made long journeys North, South or West to support the lads. It was great to see you on the telly – good on you.
Man of the match against Liverpool?

We played our part in a thrilling game of football to start this new PL season.
Fantastic entertainment and nobody can seriously believe that we are going to be anywhere near a relegation scrap this season.
We really belong in this league now and no team is going to be looking forward to playing us.
I am beginning to believe that we can beat last season’s points total this season. That doesn’t appear to be a stretch at all.

I was a bit worried we would get smashed considering the position Liverpool are in ATM, with a very ambitious transfer window – and Diego Jota.
I thought Liverpool looked pretty disorganised at times and I felt we could have at least got the draw had things gone our way. Bringing on Winterburn over Billing or Hill, I think, may have been a mistake.
We were still a big threat against the champions, even with ourselves missing key players and yet to sign some reinforcements as of now, which was obviously a positive.
In the end, we just made too many mistakes. New signings and returns can’t come soon enough.
Petrovic – got a lot of criticism online, which I thought was very harsh, although his distribution was shocking.
Diakite – I thought he had a pretty poor debut, but I appreciate it’s never easy as he’s just signed for us literally, and first game is Champions away facing the best player ITW (Salah). Did better than Senesi, who was shocking but £35 million – I don’t know about that, but we’ll see.
Truffert – Made a couple of mistakes but was decent enough. Can defo see him being better than Kerkez.
Semenyo – an unbelievable footballer. His resilience to such thing is remarkable. So grateful he is our player, he is our best player, and he has stuck by us during this mass exodus.
Onto Wolves, if we play as we did against Liverpool, we’ll win. – To join the conversation, please click here.
A great player but above all, a great human being.
Only a strong character shows such resilience in those circumstances.
We love you and are all with you, Antoine ❤️ pic.twitter.com/PNLxdLOeTx
