Transfer Offer Inbound as West Ham Set to Have Paqueta Resolve Tested

One of the more cryptic tweets concerning West Ham has come from football ITK Fabrizio Romano, who has had a mixed record with transfer predictions this summer.

The Italian journalist once again raised the subject of Lucas Paquetá potentially leaving the club, posting:

“Graham Potter has made clear with West Ham his desire to keep Lucas Paquetá. Potter also spoke to the player as he’s been considering proposals for weeks, full trust from #WHUFC manager.”

The message is somewhat cryptic. On the one hand, it suggests Potter is keen to keep the Brazilian; on the other, it alludes to Paquetá receiving proposals from elsewhere.

Claret & Hugh have spoken directly to sources close to Paquetá in recent months, including yesterday to the agent who brought him to the London Stadium. Once again, it was made clear that Paquetá loves West Ham and is in no way agitating for a move.

Potter want’s to keep Paqueta and Brady has insisted he won’t be sold.

That said, there are believed to be offers on the table for the midfielder, though his representatives are not aware of any official approach being submitted to the club.

Only yesterday, Karren Brady hinted at the Hammers’ determination to keep the 27-year-old in East London. But how vigorously that stance will be tested remains to be seen—particularly if, as expected, a formal bid arrives this week.

We’ll find out soon enough if Brady’s words were hollow or a genuine attempt to keep a key player.
