Our Weekly Premier League Awards return for the first time after the opening weekend of the 2025/26 season.
Moment of the Week
Federico Chiesa‘s career at Liverpool seemed set to come to an end before it had started. Last season, the Italian played just 104 minutes in the Premier League and had been expected to depart this summer.
However, Chiesa was the unlikely man of the moment to save the champions on opening night. Introduced with 10 minutes to go after Liverpool had blown a 2-0 lead at home to Bournemouth, Chiesa converted his first Premier League goal to snatch the three points for the Reds.

A well-taken strike beat Djordje Petrovic and ensured huge celebrations inside of Anfield. Could this be the moment that ignites the popular Chiesa’s time on Merseyside?
Player of the Week
Debuts don’t go much better than this. Tijjani Reijnders was magnificent as Manchester City opened their campaign with a 4-0 thrashing of Wolves at Molineux. Involved throughout, a sublime solo run and lofted pass created the opener, before he marked his first appearance in England with a perfect finish passed into the far corner.
He added an assist for Erling Haaland to make it three and showed all the quality that saw him named Serie A Midfielder of the Year last season. A class act.

Save of the Week
David Raya won the man-of-the-match award after Arsenal’s 1-0 win at Manchester United, as the Spaniard made more saves than any other goalkeeper (7) during the Premier League’s opening weekend.
The best of the bunch was a brilliant stop from Matheus Cunha, reacting rapidly to get low and divert the effort around the post.

They don’t make ’em like James Milner anymore.

A week to forget for…
Graham Potter. The West Ham manager might have thought an opening-day assignment at newly-promoted Sunderland was an ideal chance to get off to a good start. Oh, how he was wrong.
The Black Cats thrashed his side at The Stadium of Light, in a 3-0 defeat that has increased the pressure on his position. After little to no improvement after his appointment last season, Potter has a huge task to prove he is the right man to lead the Irons forward.
