Roy Keane keeps up his anti-keeper ranting after shocker from Man United stopper

Classic Keano!

Man United began their Premier League with what was an improved performance, but ultimately a 1-0 loss.

The winning goal came in the 13th minute, with Riccardo Calafiori heading in from point-blank range, after goalkeeper Altay Bayındır failed to deal with a corner, fisting the ball into the Arsenal defender’s path.

Speaking after the game, Roy Keane, who is known for his anti-goalkeeper tirades, tore into the Turkish stopper.

He said: “That’s you keeper’s job…. the goalkeeper, that’s his area.

“I always say, he has to come with violence, he’s got to be aggressive, he’s got to be almost saying to players ‘yeh come in here I’m happy to deal with it’, and you’ve got to be aggressive.

“He’s not strong enough. He’s appealing to the referee, don’t be appealing to the referee.

“If a player comes into your area, you go ‘yeh you come in’, you invite him, because I’m going to hopefully punch the ball and I’ll take you with it.

“It’s fat too easy, it’s like schoolboy stuff.”

On the error, Man United boss Ruben Amorim said: “Everyone needs to improve. The goalkeeper has to use the hands to catch the ball.

“I understand we are trying to help the game have more goals, but sometimes too much is too much.

“I don’t want to complain.”

He added: “It was really hard because I think we showed that we were the better team today. We played better than Arsenal.

“A strange goal, but then we tried everything to score a goal. We have small things that will make a difference in the future. The defence felt a different team and that is a good thing, but we need to win games.

“I am proud of the players. I said so many times that the players need to adapt.

“Intensity, the way they are sprinting. They fought for every duel. They were so brave playing one against one. They were really brave, and I am happy with that.”
