The Premier League is coming to town and Leeds United take centre-stage on Monday night in front of a packed and raucous Elland Road.
Everton and David Moyes are the opposition and are, on paper, their best chance at three points from the opening three matches. After this fixture comes the trip to Arsenal before Newcastle United travel to West Yorkshire, by which time the Magpies might have bought a new striker.
Leeds have a good record of opening day results when their first game has been at home - in the Premier League era, they have not lost any of eight openers at Elland Road, five of them ending in wins. Elland Road will play a massive part in survival this season with each win a special event.
Instant tactical feedback
Daniel Farke has mostly used a 4-3-3 in pre-season, diverting from his usual 4-2-3-1 ploy. This has seen Ethan Ampadu sit as the anchor then Anton Satch and Ao Tanaka pushing up and dropping back as required.
Also this summer, full-backs have remained rather high and advanced. It will be interesting to see whether this remains the same on Monday - and whether the tactical set-up Farke has deployed is effective.

The game is sure to highlight further which areas need transfer reinforcement. Farke had been adamant on the need for more attackers, even after the arrival of Calvert-Lewin. A lack of potency will only increase the noise for more arrivals.
Debuts and signings
New signing Dominic Calvert-Lewin is eligible to play on Monday but whether he is fit enough to feature for any amount of time is unclear. He began training with the first team on Saturday afternoon.
Perri has only played 45 minutes since arriving from Lyon with a hamstring issue and so his first full game will come on Monday. It’s a baptism of fire for the Brazilian but he has outlined that he has fully recovered from his setback and is ready to play.
Other new signings will get their first competitive outings during the game with the likes of Gabriel Gudmundsson and Anton Stach set to make their bow.
However, Jaka Bijol will miss out through suspension after receiving a red card on the final day of Udinese’s season. Sebastiaan Bornauw is available for selection, though, having returned from injury.
Jack Harrison reception
Jack Harrison looks to at least be making the squad on Monday amid ill-feeling towards him from some sections of the fan base after his two-year spell away on loan at Everton. Loud boos were heard during the friendly with AC Milan in Dublin but there was also a swathe of support heard for him.
Monday could be the first time he steps out at Elland Road since his return, having missed the home friendly with Villarreal through injury. In Friday’s press conference, Farke said Harrison has the support of the staff and dressing room at the least.
“Jack is a proven Premier League player. Top character and hard working,” Farke said. “His behaviour in pre-season was top class, he’s working very hard. Right now it’s up to him with good performances and hard work to win the trust of our supporters back.”
Given the mixed reception heard in Dublin, it will be interesting to hear the response during crunch time on Monday evening.
