Marc Guehi filmed snubbing Oliver Glasner as Liverpool talks continue

Marc Guehi looked to have ignored Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner after his side’s goalless draw at Chelsea, with cameras filming the tense interaction.

Liverpool have been in talks to sign the centre-back this summer, with a proposed offer of £30 million plus £5 million in add-ons falling short of Palace’s valuation.

Despite the potential for injury to deny the Eagles a healthy windfall, Guehi was named to start against Chelsea on Sunday and went on to play the full 90 minutes in the 0-0 draw.

After the final whistle, the Palace captain went to applaud the away end, and as he was making his way back to the tunnel, Glasner called Guehi over but was given the cold shoulder.

The Palace manager stood and watched the 25-year-old walk away for a few moments before appearing to discuss the snub with Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Glasner did not appear to explain the incident in any subsequent interviews, but he did make a point to say “don’t always believe what you read,” as uncertainty also remains over Eberechi Eze’s future.

“Who knows this is the truth what is written, there are rumours and so many rumours and everyone tells something for their own advantage maybe,” he said.

There are now two league fixtures remaining until the transfer window closes on September 1, and Glasner told BBC’s Match of the Day that, “As long as they are 100 percent committed, they will play as they are so good.”

As per BBC’s Sami Mokbel, talks between Liverpool and Palace are to continue on Monday as they seek to find a breakthrough on a payment structure that will see Guehi play for Arne Slot.

While Glasner is clearly eager to keep hold of his key players, chairman Steve Parish recently admitted a sale is necessary to avoid Guehi leaving on a free transfer next summer.

Palace are said to be seeking a fee of around £40 million, as they have a sell-on clause held by Guehi’s former club Chelsea to consider.

Unless an agreement is struck early in the week, Guehi will likely also feature in Palace’s Europa Conference League first-leg play-off against Fredrikstad on Thursday.
