Liverpool still have some work to do in the transfer market and one name continues to be mentioned on the rumour mill. Alexander Isak is still being linked with a move to Anfield and the Newcastle United striker's future is dominating headlines in the early weeks of the Premier League season.
It was earlier this month that Liverpool had a £110million bid rejected by Newcastle for Isak. The ECHO reported at the time that the Reds had no plans to submit a second offer due to the nature of the Magpies' rejection of the bid.
Isak has not been part of the Newcastle squad for the majority of pre-season and manager Eddie Howe decided not to use him during their 1-1 draw with Aston Villa in the Premier League at the weekend.
As a result, Liverpool are still being linked with signing the Sweden international before the September 1 deadline.
Regardless of who Liverpool may look to sign before the transfer window closes, they have the perfect welcome gift lined up for a new striker. Ever since Darwin Nunez left the club earlier this month, the No.9 shirt has been vacant in the Reds squad.

With Isak being heavily linked with a move to Anfield, it could be the perfect welcome gift for the striker if a deal can be agreed.
Liverpool also have the numbers 13, 16, 23 and 24 available to new signings this summer, with the Reds also being linked with signing a new centre-back and a wide forward before the transfer window closes.
Giovanni Leoni became the eighth signing of the summer transfer window on Friday when he joined from Parma in a £26million deal.
The centre-back has taken the No.15 which had been vacant since Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain left the club in the summer of 2023.
