“That’s why I’m sitting here” – Player insinuates he’s not bothered Nottingham Forest offer was rejected

Nottingham Forest have made an attempt to sign VfB Stuttgart’s Jamie Leweling in recent days.

Two days ago, Sky Deutschland reported Nuno Espírito Santo’s side made a bid worth €20m plus €5m bonuses. Stuttgart rejected it as they don’t intend to sell him, and the forward is also not keen on changing clubs in this window.

Later that day, Bild reported Nottingham Forest need an exceptional offer to change the Bundesliga club’s stance. They made no mention of the fee needed to convince Stuttgart or if the Reds have returned with an improved offer.

The 24-year-old doesn’t seem to be bothered that his club turned down a proposal from Nottingham Forest. He insinuated this during a chat with SWR Sport to discuss a few topics, including the Premier League club’s offer.

When asked if he wants to join Nottingham Forest, he said: “No, that’s why I’m sitting here.”

The Germany international has a contract until 2029 and insists he has asked his agents to not bother him about a potential move in this window. The player mentioned this when SWR Sport asked how he handles offers like the one made by Nottingham Forest.

“I always tell my agents to keep things like that far away from me. That’s why I don’t have much to do with what the clubs and agents do among themselves. I want to play football, I want to score goals, and the rest will follow eventually,” Leweling explained.
