**A toothless Chelsea played out a 0-0 draw in their opening Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.**
The Blues were somewhat lucky not to go behind in the first half after an Eberechi Eze free kick was ruled out by VAR.
For the most part, Enzo Maresca’s side huffed and puffed and failed to create any clear-cut opportunities.
Read below as we give our Chelsea player ratings for the 0-0 draw against the Eagles at Stamford Bridge.
Goalkeeper and Defence
----------------------
**GK – Robert Sanchez – 6/10 –** got lucky with the disallowed goal but he was pretty solid apart from that.
**RB – Reece James – 5/10 –** the captain got a booking and then struggled to cope with Eze’s trickery. Not one of his best displays.
**CB – Josh Acheampong – 6/10 –** the teenager was very nervous in the first half hour, making some sloppy passes, but he grew into the game and made some great challenges.
**CB – Trevoh Chalobah – 6/10 –** the 26-year-old defended well but he did blaze over from close range midway through the first half.
**LB – Marc Cucurella – 6/10 –** the left-back got into some good positions going forward, but he didn’t have his shooting boots on.
