**Newcastle United were waiting for Dango Ouattara's move to Brentford to Bournemouth to go through before securing a £35 million deal for Yoane Wissa.**
The DR Congo striker has not been training with the Brentford squad since Newcastle's interest became clear, with the 28-year-old telling Brentford he wants to move this summer as he feels it will be his last chance to secure a move to a Champions League club.
The feeling was that when Ouattara's move would be complete, that would open the door for Wissa to leave, but Brentford are now playing games.
It had been expected that a bid of around £35 million plus add-ons would have been enough to get the deal done, but now that's seemingly not the case.

Yoane Wissa is not worth £60 million in any universe
Brentford now want £60 million for Yoane Wissa
----------------------------------------------
According to [TBR Football's Graeme Bailey](https://tbrfootball.com/yoane-wissas-new-price-revealed-as-brentford-demand-ludicrous-fee-from-newcastle/), Brentford are demanding £60 million for their want-away striker. There had been talks of them demanding £50 million earlier in the summer, but now that has drastically increased.
With all due respect to Wissa, he's not worth £50 million, never mind £60 million. Brentford are also claiming that Dango Ouattara was signed as a replacement for Bryan Mbeumo, not Yoane Wissa.
Clearly, Brentford are playing on the fact that they believe Newcastle are going to have money to burn when Alexander Isak moves to Liverpool and are trying to hold Wissa to ransom, but the fact is, Wissa is a Callum Wilson replacement, and his arrival will have no bearing on Isak. So there's no guarantee we get that huge wedge from Liverpool this summer.
The Yoane Wissa situation is mirroring that of Alexander Isak more and more
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
With each turn, the Wissa situation turns more and more similar to the Isak one. Nobody can come out a winner here. Brentford will have a disgruntled player, and the longer it drags on, the further behind he will fall behind the rest of the squad in terms of match sharpness.
Hopefully this is all just rumours and the Wissa deal will get on track sooner rather than later.
It was evident on Saturday that Newcastle desperately need a goalscorer through the door ASAP. Preferably before Monday's game at St James' Park.
