Manchester United showed signs of promise in their 1-0 defeat to Arsenal in the Premier League with summer signings Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo impressing.
Both players started the game at Old Trafford and were unfortunate not to score on their debuts. Benjamin Sesko also made his debut, coming off the bench following his move from RB Leipzig.
Despite the spirited display, which saw Ruben Amorim's men be the better team on the day, the Reds came away from the game with nothing. The defeat did, however, provide food for thought on what United must do in the final two weeks of the transfer window.
The most obvious area for improvement is in goal. Andre Onana wasn't in the squad on Sunday and Amorim's comments suggest it was his decision rather than one forced on him through injury.
"I didn't drop Onana from the squad, I didn't drop one of the other two from the squad," Amorim stated. "It is not putting Andre Onana with just one week, without seeing a game, without time training."
His replacement, Altay Bayindir, didn't cover himself in glory against Arsenal. The Turkey international was blamed for Riccardo Calafiori's winner after failing to deal with Declan Rice's corner.
Bayindir's performance has led to calls for United to bring in a new goalkeeper before the window shuts. Gianluigi Donnarumma has been linked with a move to Old Trafford, as well as Manchester City, with Diogo Costa and Senne Lammens also on their radar.
Amorim did confirm he is happy with his selection of goalkeepers so it seems unlikely the club will see a new arrival in goal, though. Another position that could be strengthened is midfield, more specifically ball-winner to partner Bruno Fernandes.
Casemiro was given the nod by Amorim from the start with Manuel Ugarte replacing him in the second-half. Kobbie Mainoo was an unused substitute and despite the options, United have been in the market for a new midfielder.

Interest in Brighton's Carlos Baleba appears to have stalled with the club now prepared to delay a move until next year. There have been a number of other midfielders previously linked with United, however, with Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton reportedly on their radar and names such as Felix Nmecha and Morten Hjulmand also linked over the course of the summer transfer window.
In terms of outgoings, United have plenty of work to do. Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Rasmus Hojlund and Tyrell Malacia were all left out of the squad on Sunday.
Hojlund had featured in pre-season, unlike the other three, but was excluded by Amorim. The striker was at Old Trafford but is likely to depart the club with AC Milan showing a keenness.
Sancho has been linked with a move to AS Roma while it's believed that Chelsea are exploring a move for Garnacho. Malacia is reportedly wanted by Roma and Atalanta.
