Tottenham have no intention of selling Bentancur amid Fenerbahce links

Staying put: Rodrigo Bentancur

The 28-year-old has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Spurs and that has raised question marks over his long-term future at the club.

Reports in Turkey have claimed that Fenerbahce are keen to sign Bentancur and have made an opening bid, but Standard Sport understands that is not the case and no offers have been received by Spurs.

Frank has been impressed by Bentancur since taking charge and sees him as an important player. It is hoped a new deal can be agreed.

While the club would ideally have wanted to prevent the midfielder’s contract reaching this stage, there is still no expectation that he will leave before the end of the current transfer window.

Bentancur missed friendlies against Wycombe and Luton earlier this summer due to illness but has otherwise been regularly involved under Frank.

The 28-year-old had been late on multiple occasions and Frank decided not to take him to Italy, with Bissouma instead posting on social media a picture of an empty gym at the training ground.

Bissouma had been expected to return to the squad against Burnley on Saturday after Frank confirmed the matter had been dealt with, but he picked up an injury in training the day before the match.
