Leeds United are in discussions over a deal to sign AC Milan forward Noah Okafor in the final weeks of the transfer window.

The Leeds medical team are set to make a final decision on Okafor, who has suffered from several injury issues in the past.

Leeds signed Dominic Calvert-Lewin last week, but want to further bolster Daniel Farke’s options going forward after the departure of Manor Solomon at the end of the season.

Leeds have agreed personal terms with Okafor, with just the fee needing to be ironed out.

Leeds will kick off their Premier League season against Everton on Monday, 18 August, with uncertainty remaining over their starting left-winger.

Solomon was Farke’s first choice in that position for the vast majority of last season, but no progress has been made on any deal that could see the winger return to Elland Road.

Instead, fans can expect to see Wilfried Gnonto or Daniel James starting on the left against Everton.

Both players have featured there in the past, but prefer the right. Leeds’ natural option on the left, Largie Ramazani, is not likely to start in the Premier League opener.

Milan signed Okafor in 2023 for £13m.

Last season, he made just 21 appearances after struggling with injuries.

Okafor would go some way to solving that problem for Farke. The 25-year-old has featured on the left extensively since his move to Milan in 2023, but is capable of filling in up front as well.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reported on 18 August (page six) that the forward has said yes to the Leeds move, with the decision now in the hands of Milan and Max Allegri.

Okafor’s performances in pre-season, combined with the injury picked up by Rafael Leao during Sunday’s game, has meant Milan are more comfortable with the Switzerland star remaining in Italy.

But a strong offer from Leeds could still force I Rossoneri’s hand this summer, with the Whites insisting.

Noah Okafor would be a strong option for Leeds

Okafor’s most impressive seasons came with Red Bull Salzburg, with the forward usually deployed through the middle.

The 2021/22 season saw the 25-year-old score 14 goals and provide 11 assists in all competitions, despite suffering from several injuries.

But that is not to say Okafor cannot play out wide. The Switzerland international offered superb numbers last season, attempting more than seven take-ons every 90 minutes, according to FBref.

This one appears to be getting closer.
