Leeds United star suffers huge injury blow that could affect transfer

Leeds United have done a pretty poor job when it comes to exits in this window. That is in huge contrast to the fantastic business they have brought in this summer.

So far, the Whites have sold just one player close to the first team, U21 defender Diogo Monteiro. The rest of the transfers have been temporary deals. Which on its own is a problem, because most of these guys will return next summer, and the club will need to find how to sell them again.

Max Wober was one of the first players this summer to leave on a transfer. The Austrian defender left on a loan deal to join Bundesliga side Werder Bremen. But just weeks after he started training, he picked up a knee injury. Scans revealed that it was not that severe, and he returned to action.

Now, German outlet Kurier are reporting that he has picked up a serious injury which could keep him out for weeks this time around. It has been confirmed that Wober picked up a muscle injury after the DFB Pokal loss to Arminia Bielefeld this weekend.

Werder Bremen loan deal has stalled

Leeds and Werder Bremen had a deal in place for the loan deal involving Isaac Schmidt. However, there has been no movement on that front. This has lead the Bundesliga side to become very frustrated with the dealings.

Over the weekend, it was reported that Bremen had set their sights on a new target, and were eager to complete a move. The German club felt like the deal with Leeds had ”stalled” and that there was nothing they could do about it.

More injuries could potentially ruin the deal

Wober has already missed over a 100 days and gotten two knee surgeries as a Leeds United player. He has now started his time in Germany on a bad note. Depending on the extent on this injury, Bremen could opt to terminate his contract if they feel he will not play for majority of the season.

Leeds should hope their loanee gets back to action quickly, another setback could potentially affect the loan deal.
