Matt O'Riley speaks on shock Juventus links after ex-Celtic star scores for Brighton

Matt O'Riley insists he is committed to Brighton after being linked with a stunning move to Juventus.

The former Celtic midfielder has had a number of clubs abroad on his tail after one season at the Seagulls following his record-breaking sale by the Parkhead club.

Juve were the latest to emerge and are no doubt one of the biggest clubs named as an O'Riley suitor.

There were even some reports that went as far as claiming a move to Turin was a done deal but it was also reported the Italian giants needed to move some players on.

The 24-year-old scored a penalty in Brighton's opening Premier League draw with Fulham and insists he is committed to the cause.

He said: “I’m very happy here. I’m having fun. That’s all I know at the moment.

"I did go to Fabian in pre-season to reiterate I am here as a Brighton player to help the team as much as possible. I was aware there was a lot of noise around me and I think that helps just settle the situation in general.”

On taking the penalty, he added: “We’ve got a few takers. If Danny’s (Welbeck) on the pitch as well he can take them I have respect for him. If he wanted to take it, that’s fine .”
