Leeds United could be an ideal landing spot for Manchester United star Rasmus Hojlund alongside their fellow promoted sides this summer.

Hojlund looks set to leave Man United following the £74million signing of Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.

The 22-year-old was left out of Ruben Amorim’s squad for the 1-0 opening-day defeat to Arsenal in a clear indication his time at Old Trafford is coming to an end.

Hojlund has largely failed to impress for Man United since joining in a £72million deal from Serie A side Atalanta in 2023.

The Denmark international registered 10 goals and four assists in 52 appearances last season, taking his overall tally to 26 goals and six assists in 95 outings.

Football Insider revealed on 12 August Hojlund is only likely to leave Man United on loan this summer despite their hopes of securing a permanent deal.

Fabrizio Romano reported on 13 August AC Milan are advancing on a deal for the striker, with the Italian giants expected to pay his full salary, a €6million (£5.2million) loan fee and include a €45million (£38.8million) option-to-buy clause.

Man United want to agree £35m Rasmus Hojlund deal

This article contains exclusive comment fromStefan Borson, a former financial adviser to Man City.

Borson insisted Hojlund could still be a good option for some of Man United’s Premier League rivals this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson said: “They would definitely much rather sell.

“There’s no question that they’d love to cut the losses and get the €40million (£34.5million) and just write it off as yet another bad transfer.

“That’s not an option, right? There are very few clubs that seem to be interested at that level.

“I’m slightly surprised about that.

“I would have thought that a team sort of Brentford or a Bournemouth, or maybe one of the other promoted teams, maybe Leeds or somebody like that, might have thought actually £35million, maybe you can get it for £30million plus £5million, maybe it’s worth a go.

“He’s young and can score you 10 goals, maybe he can’t score 20 but can score you 10 league goals.

“It wouldn’t have shocked me.”

Man United signing plan revealed after Sancho and Garnacho sales

In terms of other transfer activity, Football Insider revealed on 17 August Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho must leave Man United before they can move for their ambitious targets.

It comes after they have been priced out of a deal for Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba, with the Seagulls reluctant to sell him this late in the window.

Amorim is looking to strengthen his side further as he hopes to challenge higher up the Premier League table this season.
