Bournemouth Reportedly Agree £25M Transfer for Liverpool’s Ben Doak

In his three seasons at Liverpool Football Club, 19-year-old Scottish winger Ben Doak has widely been seen as one of the club’s top young talents, a player most tipped to become a future first team contributor for a side challenging for the biggest trophies in England and Europe.

It appears now, though, that his future lies away from Anfield. That’s because after being held out when the two sides played on Friday due to ongoing negotiations, a £25M transfer deal between Liverpool and Bournemouth has reportedly been struck today, with the player now travelling for his medical.

Doak arrived at Liverpool from Celtic as a 16-year-old with the Reds paying a £600k training compensation fee, and managed to play ten games over his first two seasons at the club before going out on loan to Middlesborough last season, where he played 24 times and scored three goals.

A bright start to that loan spell included being named the Championship’s top youngster in November of last year before injuries got in the way in the second half of the season. And, with a his contract set to expire in 2026, as the season wound down there was a buzz of transfer speculation.

Doak remains highly rated enough that Liverpool pushed for and managed to include a buyback clause in the transfer deal agreed with Bournemouth—and that they will receive at least £25M for a 19-year-old with a year left only speaks further to the player’s clear talent and upside.

Hopefully Doak can find the path to playing time he’s seeking with The Cherries, earn a regular first team role this season, and his continue his development. And if he does hit big on the south coast, perhaps we’ll even see the player back at Anfield one day in the red shirt of Liverpool.
