The 27-year-old was an unused substitute on Saturday when the Hammers lost 3-0 to Sunderland in their opening game of the new Premier League campaign. The Mexico international made 31 appearances across all competitions for West Ham last term and manager Graham Potter could be looking to sell him after his decision at the weekend. Guido Rodriguez, James Ward-Prowse and Tomas Soucek are all ahead of him in the pecking order, and an opportunity to play regularly elsewhere could be appealing to him.
Fenerbahce will be playing in the Champions League this season if they beat Benfica in the play-off for qualification for the elite European competition this month, and Alvarez could be open to joining such a team. The opportunity to work with a manager like Mourinho still tempts some players, and West Ham may need to cash in if the Mexican expresses a willingness to leave.
They want to recruit in the department having been linked with the likes of Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos and his Tottenham Hotspur counterpart Yves Bissouma.
