Grading Young Cleveland Browns Players Performances vs Philadelphia Eagles

Luke Wypler, C

The most impressive player for me over the two preseason games combined has been the former Ohio State center Luke Wypler. He hasn't seen much game action and missed all of last year with an injury. But so far, he looks impressive, he's healthy, and his movement skills have been impressive this preseason. Wypler seems comfortable in the system, knows his assignments, and doesn't miss them. It's been a very promising couple of weeks for the young center.

Zak Zinter, G

Zak Zinter didn't play in the first preseason game, dealing with an injury, but he got the start at right guard against the Eagles. It was a little bit of a mixed bag with a big missed assignment leading to a sack of Dillon Gabriel, but he had some nice moments, too. To me, it looks like he still isn't completely confident in the system and is playing some catch-up, but he showed progress and flashes of the guy they drafted high last year.

Grade: C

Dillon Gabriel, QB

Dillon Gabriel's NFL debut went about as I expected, plenty of good and a couple of bad plays you just can't have. The pick-six was ugly. The tight end didn't help by not going for the ball, but in that situation, you don't try to force it, just throw it away. But he showed a lot of poise on third down and made some big throws to convert on the money down. Shedeur Sanders' debut was better, but Gabriel showed the accuracy and decision-making that the team thought was worth taking in the Top 100 of the draft. He still looks like he needs to get more comfortable in the offense and in the pocket, but he showed plenty of promise for what he can become.
