Sancho saga takes fresh twist as'convinced'attacker rejects two European clubs

Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho has supposedly rejected the chance to join Roma and Besiktas in the summer transfer window.

There is no way back for the 25-year-old at Old Trafford following his loan return from Chelsea, and as expected, he was nowhere to be seen in Sunday's 1-0 Premier League loss to Arsenal.

The identity of Sancho's new club has been shrouded in uncertainty throughout the summer, as there has been little Premier League interest in the winger, no doubt partly due to his extortionate wages.

In recent days, Roma appeared to have emerged as the leading contenders to sign Sancho on a permanent deal, and Man United were willing to accept a huge loss on the England international in order to get him off the books.

According to Ben Jacobs, the Giallorossi tabled a £20m offer to the 20-time English champions, but Sancho has now turned down a move to the Serie A side.

Sancho 'convinced' other transfer options will materialise

The former Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City winger is allegedly 'convinced' that other transfer opportunities will materialise within the next couple of weeks, even though Man Utd were happy to accept Roma's £20m offer.

The Italian side have moved on quickly from Sancho, though, as they are understood to be closing in on the capture of Leon Bailey from Aston Villa.

Sancho does also have the option of moving to the Turkish Super Lig, as Besiktas - whose manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was in charge of Man Utd when the winger was signed in 2021 - made contact a couple of weeks ago.

Solskjaer's side are reportedly prepared to match Roma's £20m offer and have been informed of the deal conditions, but Sancho is also turning his nose up to a switch to Turkey, and there have been no more discussions over the past fortnight.

While Sancho currently has no interest in joining Besiktas, a move to the Turkish Super Lig could very well be a last resort if he is still at Old Trafford when the other European windows close in early September.

Teams in Turkey have until September 12 to make new signings, so Sancho could potentially follow the same path as Victor Osimhen, who unexpectedly joined Galatasaray on loan from Napoli last summer after a move to Al-Ahli fell through.

The Saudi Pro League would be another viable destination for the winger, who would be able to stay on his same pay packet at the very least in the Middle East, but he is seemingly keen to continue in Europe for the time being.

However, Sancho will almost certainly have to take a hit on his wages - £250,000 a week according to Capology- if he is to drum up interest from the Premier League or elsewhere on the continent in the next two weeks.

The 25-year-old is now in the final 12 months of his contract with Man United, whom he has registered just 12 goals and six assists in 83 appearances for since joining from Dortmund in a £73m deal in 2021.
