Enzo Maresca has been very vocal about what he needs from the transfer market in the final couple of weeks of the summer, and it looks as if Chelsea are making a move to try and rectify that.
Maresca wants a new centre-back after losing Levi Colwill for the majority of the campaign due to a knee injury suffered in the first pre-season training session.
His frustrations were shown in the first game of the season when he was forced to name Josh Acheampong at centre-back, who had only made three Premier League starts before the 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace.
With Tosin Adarabioyo also not fit to feature, it is clear why the manager is looking for more, however it was reported last week Chelsea chiefs are not willing to sign a new centre-back.

Chelsea have £43m bid for Alessandro Bastoni rejected
Whether or not it was the opening game of the season, where both Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali were in attendance, but this stance may well have changed, amid interest in Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni.
Chelsea were interested in Bastoni last summer, and his excellent season helping Inter to the Champions League final saw him remain one of the best options in the world at the back.
According to Gazzetta, Chelsea made a bid worth £43m to sign the Italian, however this was rejected instantly by the Serie A side.
The report goes on to say that Newcastle have also enquired over his services, and a late summer offer from England cannot be discounted right now.

Chelsea may have to make apologies to sort centre-back issue out
If Maresca is not handed a new centre-back before September 1, he is going to be forced to work with what he has already got to try and steer them through what is looking like a crisis at the back.
One player who is yet to get a mention as a potential replacement is Renato Veiga, after he spent the second half of last season on loan at Juventus.
He featured as a centre-back for the Serie A side, and despite impressing is still being linked heavily with a move away.
If he does not move before the deadline, it would be crazy to not at least give him a chance amongst the first team again in the position he personally would rather play.
