Not long after the Philadelphia Eagles wrapped up their second preseason matchup against the Cleveland Browns, the team got on the phone with the Houston Texans to make another trade this offseason. Now, there's a new wide receiver in Philadelphia.
The Eagles have acquired the 24-year-old wide receiver, John Metchie III.
In addition, the Eagles have landed a sixth-round pick. In return, the team is giving up the tight end Harrison Bryant and a fifth-round pick, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

@ScoutFball: When will the league learn to stop helping Howie & the Eagles?
Since Howie Roseman re-entered the picture in the Eagles' front office years ago, he's been one of the most aggressive General Managers in the league.
As a result, Roseman has a reputation for finding solid value in the trade market, even if he's not engaging in blockbuster moves frequently. It seems many see Metchie as a solid under-the-radar move for the Eagles, who are looking to repeat as Super Bowl champions.

The Eagles are already top-heavy at the wide receiver position. AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith are one of the strongest duos in the league. Last year, Jahan Dotson was in a similar position as Metchie, getting traded to the Eagles late in the offseason.
This year, Dotson looks forward to potentially playing a bigger role, now that he's got a full offseason under his belt with the Eagles.
Metchie joins the team as a former Alabama prospect. Once teammates with DeVonta Smith, Metchie spent three seasons with the Crimson Tide. He appeared in 30 games, catching 155 passes for over 2,000 yards and 14 touchdowns.
During the 2022 NFL Draft, the Texans picked up Metchie with their 33rd overall pick. The young wideout missed his entire rookie season due to health reasons. In 2023, Metchie made his debut with the Texans. He appeared in 16 games, catching 16 passes for 158 yards.
In year three with the Texans, Metchie played in 13 games. He caught 24 passes for 257 yards. He scored the first and only touchdown of his career last season.
