Jaylen Brown Shows Off Injury Rehab Progress After Offseason Surgery

Jayson Tatum isn’t the only Boston Celtics star who underwent surgery this offseason. After the Celtics crashed out of the 2025 NBA Playoffs, it was announced that Jaylen Brown would undergo arthroscopic knee surgery to fix a meniscus injury he was dealing with throughout the 2024-25 season. Throughout Boston’s title defense, Brown was dealing with a bothersome knee injury, but it didn’t truly affect his availability or his performance on the court. In 63 games, Brown averaged 22.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game while shooting 46.3% from the field. It always seemed likely that Brown would get some work done on his knee to clean things up this offseason, but the expectation was that he’d be ready for the start of training camp. Sure enough, it seems like he’s on track when it comes to his injury timeline. And yet, it’s worth keeping tabs on Brown’s rehab, largely because he’s going to have to play a bigger role for Boston next season with Tatum on the mend. In a clip shared on social media, Brown was seen dunking during an exhibition game in China, indicating that he is making progress in his injury rehab for the C’s. With Tatum suffering a ruptured Achilles tendon in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against the New York Knicks, he’s expected to miss the entire 2025-26 campaign. That means Brown will be tasked with leading the team during Tatum’s absence. While Brown won MVP of the 2024 NBA Finals, he’s never been the de facto No. 1 option on offense during his time in the league. That is going to change soon, so it’s imperative that he is fully healthy by the time the regular season gets underway. While this game wasn’t being played at full intensity, the fact that Brown is already able to dunk in the aftermath of his surgery is very encouraging. Assuming nothing crazy happens, he should be ready to lead the Celtics into battle by the time opening night arrives.
