Manchester United reportedly awaiting Chelsea's bid for Alejandro Garnacho as transfer deadline looms

As the time is running out for Manchester United to sell Garnacho, there are reports stating that the Red Devils are waiting for Chelsea to make a bid for the player.

The Premier League 2025/26 season is officially underway, but the transfer window is yet to reach its deadline day-September 1. Thus, there is still time left for teams to sell the unwanted men or make quick sweeps. As the majority of the clubs, barring a few, will look to do further business in the remaining days of the transfer window, there is still a chance that Manchester United will be able to get something out of Alejandro Garnacho.

United seek bid from Chelsea for Garnacho

As per reports in the English media, Garnacho is keen on moving out of Old Trafford and wants to shift base to Stamford Bridge. This comes after the Argentine openly criticised the tactics of manager Ruben Amorim following United’s defeat to Tottenham in the UEFA Europa League final in May. Garnacho’s comments broke the relationship between the player and the club, and it is needless to state that United now desires to sell the player.

However, they are waiting for Chelsea to make a bid for the player. Given the time constraint, the Blues would look to make the most of United’s desperation and try to get the player at a cheap price. Moreover, Chelsea might have another reason to stall Garnacho talks. As per BBC, the Blues are not willing to sell Christopher Nkunku to Bayern Munich for less than £50 million, and hence it could be a factor in setting the bid for the 21-year-old United winger.

Chelsea and United off to a forgetful start in the Premier League

Both Chelsea and Manchester United have played their respective opening match of the season, and neither could register a win. Chelsea played a 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge. Whereas United suffered a 0-1 loss to Arsenal in the opening matchday of the season. Riccardo Calafiori’s 13th-minute strike at Old Trafford on Sunday proved to be the difference between the Red Devils and the Gunners.
