Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
Birmingham City have been linked with a surprise move for former Arsenal and Liverpool attacker Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in this summer transfer window. Oxlade-Chamberlain, a product of Southampton's famed academy and a former England international with 35 caps, has spent the last two seasons in Turkiye with Besiktas.
The attacking midfielder, though, is likely to be granted an opportunity to return to England this summer; reports emerged in July that he had had his contract terminated, and although they appeared to be premature, it's claimed byBesiktas will entertain the idea of cancelling the final year of contract so he can leave.
have been busy this summer already, and have added a number of new faces including Tommy Doyle, Phil Neumann, Bright Osayi-Samuel - who also joined from the Turkish Super Lig - and Kyogo Furuhashi, among others; boss Chris Davies
Oxlade-Chamberlain, who turned 32 earlier this month, carries a wealth of experience at the top level of English football; he made 198 appearances for Arsenal and 146 appearances for Liverpool, winning the Premier League title with the latter in 2020, and featuring in 53 Champions League games across the course of those two spells.
Now he's said to be keen to return to England and Blues, aiming for successive promotions from League One through to the Premier League, are reportedly eager to tap into his experience and versatility, which are both qualities that'd strengthen their cause under Davies this season.
