Man United goalkeeper transfer stance made clear amid Jadon Sancho update

The latest Manchester United transfer news and gossip including updates on Senne Lammens and Jadon Sancho

Jadon Sancho

Man United are working on the sale of Jadon Sancho this summer

Manchester United have just two weeks to complete any other deals in the summer transfer window.

This summer, Ruben Amorim's quad was strengthened by the signings of Diego Leon, Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko. Their Premier League season began with a narrow 1-0 home defeat to Arsenal, with Riccardo Calafiori's first-half header proving decisive.

Sesko played the final 25 minutes, making his Premier League debut after coming on for Mason Mount. As he adapts to his new surroundings, there is hope that he can provide the goals United so desperately need.

Off the pitch, changes can still happen regarding player departures and arrivals.

With that said, MEN Sport has taken a look at the latest headlines from in and around Old Trafford.

Senne Lammens latest

Fabrizio Romano claims there is 'nothing imminent' on the goalkeeper front for United despite admiring the Royal Antwerp goalkeeper Lammens.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said: "The situation involving Emi Martinez has gone completely quiet. But a goalkeeper they still like and are still keeping an eye on is Senne Lammens, the goalkeeper of Royal Antwerp.

"Very talented goalkeeper, Belgian and United have been monitoring him for a long time. I told you about this interest in July and the beginning of August. This interest remains and if United decide from now until the end of the window to invest on a goalkeeper - Lammens is the goalkeeper they like.

"So could be a possibility. [Gianluigi] Donnarumma, they are aware of the situation but Man City are in concrete talks to sign him. So this is currently the situation for Man United but still, nothing imminent as of now."

MEN Sport says: There is still time for the club to sign a new goalkeeper in this transfer window, especially after Altay Bayindir's performance against Arsenal. While not entirely at fault, he should have done better in clearing the ball away from Arsenal players in the box. Amorim’s decision to leave Andre Onana out could suggest that the Portuguese manager is not fully convinced by his performances in training, leaving the door open for a potential new signing between the posts.

Jadon Sancho update

Sky Italia report that AS Roma have held positive talks with the Reds regarding Sancho.

Meanwhile, Corriere dello Sport offer a different perspective, claiming that Sancho is taking 'a few more days' to decide his future. The report adds that Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini spoke to the 25-year-old, outlining how he could become a key part of the squad and replicate the form he showed during his peak years at Borussia Dortmund.

It’s also noted that an agreement between United and Roma has been reached for an initial loan, with an option to buy set at €25m (£22m).

MEN Sport says: Hopefully, this situation will be resolved in the coming days. With the transfer window closing in just two weeks, the clock is ticking for United to finalise any sales before the deadline. For Sancho, a fresh start could offer the chance to reignite his career, but that may require him to take a wage cut. Considering the opportunity to play regularly and rebuild his reputation, such a decision, should be an obvious one.
