Exclusive: Man Utd sent scouts to Chelsea vs Crystal Palace to watch star with 100% dribble success dominate

TBR Football can reveal that Manchester United watched Adam Wharton in action at the weekend as he starred in Crystal Palace’s opening day draw at Chelsea.

Chelsea took on Crystal Palace in the Premier League this weekend, with the two London clubs playing out a score draw.

It was a game with chances few and far between, but there were still some standout performers, including Adam Wharton.

And as Manchester United took on Arsenal, it was the Red Devils who got to watch the Englishman dominate proceedings at Stamford Bridge.

Exclusive: Manchester United sent scouts to watch Adam Wharton

TBR Football can exclusively reveal through chief correspondent Graeme Bailey that United sent scouts to Chelsea’s stadium to watch Wharton in action for Crystal Palace.

Wharton is a long-term target for United and has emerged as a player they feel could fit into their system under Ruben Amorim.

Indeed, the 21-year-old, who featured in the Palace, played a three-man defence with Wharton starring in the holding role – the position United would ideally like to sign a new player for this month.

Having spoken to Brighton about a possible deal for Carlos Baleba, United are exploring alternative options. While a deal for Wharton would be highly unlikely, they did take the chance to see him in action.

TBR Football can also confirm that Sporting’s Morten Hjulmand is a player United appreciate.

Adam Wharton stats against Chelsea in the Premier League

The 21-year-old is one of the Premier League’s hottest prospects, and for good reason.

At such a young age, Wharton already possesses many of the characteristics that make a good six, which is why United are interested.

He dominated against both Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez, a nearly £250m midfield pairing. This shows he’s worth his weight in gold.

As Graeme alluded to, it’s unlikely anything will materialise, but never say never. In the future, Carlos Baleba’s fee will be hefty, and so will Wharton’s, but they both fit the bill as a Manchester United-type player.

United’s quest for a competent six continues – who will they end up with by the end of the summer transfer window?
