Trey Hendrickson Draws Interest From NFC South Teams in Ongoing Bengals Drama

Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson and his long-running contract negotiations with his team recently reached a new development, as recent insider reports indicated that the franchise is shopping Hendrickson around interested NFL teams.

In a recent report by NFL insider Jordan Schultz revealed that certain teams in the league have expressed interest in going on a trade deal for Trey Hendrickson.

Contract negotiations between the Cincinnati Bengals and four-time Pro Bowl defensive end Trey Hendrickson have been at an impasse since the end of last season, with talks going nowhere even after the team granted him permission to seek a trade in March.

As training camp opened, Hendrickson reported on time but has yet to take the field while Cincinnati listens to outside offers. The 30-year-old edge rusher enters the final year of his four-year, $60 million deal and continues to press for a multi-year extension with guarantees similar to his top-tier peers.

Despite the stalemate, Hendrickson has made clear he’d rather remain in Cincinnati if the Bengals meet his market value. “I’ve been able to achieve All-Pro honors, Pro Bowl honors… However it shakes out, there’s nowhere I’d rather be,” Hendrickson said, underscoring his appreciation for teammates and the organization.

Trey Hendrickson Gets Honest Opinion From Colts’ DC

Indianapolis’ new defensive coordinator, Lou Anarumo, is making it clear why the Colts have their eye on All-Pro edge rusher Trey Hendrickson. The Cincinnati Bengals have reportedly placed Hendrickson on the trade block, and sources say Indianapolis is among the teams expressing serious interest. What makes the potential fit intriguing is Anarumo’s history with Hendrickson: he coached the pass rusher during his most productive seasons in Cincinnati.

Speaking at a recent Colts training camp practice, Anarumo lauded Hendrickson’s blend of physical tools and professional dedication. “He’s a young 30,” Anarumo said, brushing aside concerns about age.

“He is a workout freak,” headded. “He’s always in the weight room. He’s constantly training. So he’s got a bunch of years left in him for sure. He’s a freak athlete. His numbers speak for themself. I think any team would say, a 17.5 sack guy, we’ll take him.”

Now entering the final year of his deal, Trey Hendrickson is seeking a new contract that matches his recent dominance. Having led the league in sacks in 2024, he’s proven he can disrupt offenses like no one else, Anarumo added.
