Reports suggest Manchester United are lining up a move for Athletic Bilbao star Mikel Jauregizar.
United turn to Athletic Bilbao star
**Manchester United**’s summer chase for Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba has hit a dead end. The club has now turned their eye towards Athletic Bilbao’s Mikel Jauregizar.
Man Utd supporters have already seen the Spaniard knock in a lovely goal at Old Trafford in last season’s Europa League. That said, he is proving to be a confident player. That is why he has drawn interest as one of the most enticing midfielders out of La Liga.
Spanish outlet Fichajes say United is looking at the Jauregizar for this summer window. That is since manager Ruben Amorim is looking to add to his list of options. The youngster is seen as a more realistic option at the moment. With Liverpool previously showing interest, Utd know they may need to act fast to bring in the player.
Player fits the bill
The 21-year-old player saw a coming of age under boss Ernesto Valverde. He played 48 games and scored 3 goals and had 3 assists. More than a numbers game, it was the burst of energy that got the better of opponents. He can play as both a holding midfielder and in more advanced roles. He brings a mix of steel and flair often compared to Martin Zubimendi and Declan Rice.
Athletic Bilbao see him as one of their brightest assets for the future. With no reported release clause in his six-year deal, there could be room for transfer talks. Head coach Amorim is making no secret of his desire for another midfield option.
The Red Devils’ chase for Jauregizar could gather real pace in the coming days. He has energy, tactical awareness, and ability to dictate play. That may be exactly what the United need to sharpen their engine room this season.
