Draymond Green wasted no time in poking fun at the Miami Heat after they elected to dump Haywood Highsmith via trade over the weekend. In what was considered a pretty odd decision, Green took to social media to unleash a shot at the once-proud organization.
The Heat were once considered one of the most respected organizations in the NBA. However, with how they've operated over the last few seasons, much of that has changed. So much so that they're now being the butt of the joke. Draymond Green taking a vicious shot at the Heat was the most recent example of this.

Draymond Green comes to the defense of Jimmy Butler
Clearly, Draymond is coming to the defense of Jimmy here. Jimmy is not necessarily going to take a direct shot at the Heat and poke fun at the stage they find themselves in, but Draymond has no issue with it.
Draymond notes that there was a section of Heat fans that wanted Jimmy to come off the bench this past season, and is making fun that now Highsmith, who some fans clamored to start over Jimmy, is now gone. And sent out in a trade for pennies on the dollar.
In fairness, it was just a small selection of Heat fans on social media who were actually spreading that narrative. What Heat fans desired most was a healthy and engaged Jimmy. And for the majority of the 2024-25 NBA season, they simply didn't get that.
That's the biggest reason why Heat fans were frustrated with Jimmy at the time. Knowing what we know now, it was clear that Jimmy was already checked out and prepared to move on from the Heat. A clarification that we quickly got by the NBA Trade Deadline.
The changing narrative surrounding the Heat
Nevertheless, the narrative that has been following the Heat over the last few seasons is not a flattering one. They're quickly emerging into one of the easiest targets in the league, particularly with the way they've conducted business of late.
There have been a few occasions this season in which Miami's front office has been under scrutiny for how they've operated. The first was when they elected to low-ball the Phoenix Suns in their trade talks for Kevin Durant. The second was the poor return in the Duncan Robinson sign-and-trade deal with the Detroit Pistons. And the third revolved around the decision to salary dump Highsmith.
Draymond is basically saying the quiet part out loud about the Heat's head-scratching decisions of late. Still, even for a still-proud fan base, it's increasingly frustrating that Draymond, at least to a certain extent, is somewhat right.
