Sheffield United have made a fresh bid of around £2.5m for Swedish international Nils Zatterstrom, according to Swedish outlet Aftonbladet.
Sheffield United have endured a turbulent spell in recent years, yo-yoing between the Premier League and the Championship. Their bid to make an immediate return to the top flight in 2024/25 fell short, however, as they were beaten by Sunderland in the play-off final.
The Blades are now entering a new chapter, with Ruben Selles taking over from Chris Wilder as the club’s hierarchy looks to stamp their authority on life at Bramall Lane. But the transition has been anything but seamless, with early struggles both on and off the pitch.

Frustration among supporters is growing too, largely due to a quiet summer window marked by failed negotiations and a lack of meaningful transfer business. The Blades are in the hunt for new defenders in the final few days of the window.
Sheffield United have had bids rejected for Coventry City’s Bobby Thomas and Hull City’s Charlie Hughes, but they have now moved on to another target. According to Swedish outlet Aftonsbladet, SUFC have made an offer for Malmo defender Nils Zatterstrom.

This is the second offer the Blades have made for Zatterstrom. The bid is believed to be around £2.3m for the Swedish international.
Another younger signing as part of the Sheffield United project
Sheffield United appear to have shifted their focus toward recruiting younger talent with the potential to develop into top-level players. This summer, they have seen five players come in, with Dijbril Soumare as the oldest at 22.

At just 20 years old, Zatterstrom has already broken into first-team football in Sweden’s top flight, an impressive feat in itself. He has also gained valuable experience with seven Champions League appearances.
Standing at 6’4″, the centre-back is a commanding presence who looks well-suited to the physical demands of English football, particularly in the Championship. According to FotMob, he has only been dribbled past once in league action this season and boasts a 90% pass completion rate—statistics that underline both his defensive reliability and composure on the ball.

A true Ahmedhodzic replacement for Sheffield United
When Anel Ahmedhodzic left for Feyenoord, it left a huge hole in the SUFC defence. The Blades look to be attempting to replace him by going back to the source.
Ahmedhodzic joined Sheffield United from Malmo back in 2022, and Zatterstrom would be making the same move. He would also be joining for a fraction of the fee they received for Ahmedhodzic.
The Blades need to be smart with the money they have received over the summer. Zatterstrom would be a risk, but his positives clearly outweigh the negatives.
