Chelsea youngster Geovany Quenda proves quality in just 34 minutes in big win for Sporting Lisbon

Chelsea’s future continues to look bright after a number of their top stars have now joined the team, with the next potential great less than a year away from his move to Stamford Bridge.

Estevao Willian and Andrey Santos have now made their Premier League debuts for the club, however next summer will see the arrival of Geovany Quenda in West London.

The summer saw the current Sporting Lisbon man competing in the U21 European Championships, and he was the youngest player to feature for his country.

Quenda starred for Portugal, giving Chelsea fans a glimpse of what they can expect when he does arrive at Stamford Bridge next summer.

As domestic seasons get underway, the youngster found himself on the bench for Sporting’s second game of the campaign against Arouca.

Despite not getting the start, it didn’t take long for Quenda to make an impact in the second half. He picked up two assists straight after coming on in a game that finished 6-0.

Quenda will be excited at the prospect of linking up with former teammate Dario Essugo next summer. Despite the deals being done at pretty much the same time, the midfielder was adjudged to be required for this season as deputy for Moises Caicedo.

Chelsea creating issue for Quenda before his arrival

With the youngster not available until next summer, Enzo Maresca has to look to the present and pick his side without him as an option.

Chelsea have invested big money into their attack already this summer, however are still considering adding both Xavi Simons and Alejandro Garnacho to their ranks before the transfer window closes.

With them being added to a large amount of options already in attack, there will be questions over where they are planning to feature Quenda when he does arrive.

Given the significant transfer fee they have paid for the Portuguese star, there will be an expectation that he is coming to be a key player, whether that be on the left or right of attack.
