Liverpool make bold transfer call as Alexander Isak saga takes dramatic turn

Liverpool’s transfer window has taken a sharp twist, with the club now putting all their energy into one name — Alexander Isak.

The Swedish striker has reportedly told Newcastle United he wants out, and Anfield is where he wants to land. The Reds had a huge £110 million bid knocked back last week, but the story is far from over.

The decision also means Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola is no longer on Liverpool’s immediate list.

While the Frenchman is admired, club chiefs have decided that chasing two expensive targets at once is off the table. It’s now Isak or nothing, as per Fabrizio Romano).

How can Liverpool sign Isak this summer?

Reports suggest Isak has informed Newcastle he does not wish to play for them again. That puts the Magpies in a tricky spot.

They’ve said he is not for sale, but keeping an unhappy striker rarely ends well. Liverpool are prepared to wait and test the waters until late in the window.

Fabrizio Romano explained: “Liverpool have decided that Isak is their top transfer target and are not actively pursuing Barcola despite internal discussions.”

That leaves Newcastle with the ball at their feet. Do they cash in now or risk dragging the saga deeper into the season?

For Liverpool, patience may be their best play. If Isak pushes hard enough, Newcastle may eventually be forced into a rethink.

Behind the scenes, PSG continue to insist Barcola will not leave this summer. Luis Enrique and sporting director Luis Campos both see him as untouchable. So while Isak runs free in the rumour mill, Barcola is staying locked away in Paris.

For Arne Slot’s side, the chase goes on. The Isak deal is complicated, costly, and messy — in other words, a classic summer transfer saga. And like a late VAR check at Anfield, fans will just have to wait to see if the goal stands.

Meanwhile, Yoane Wissa has unfollowed Brentford, changed his profile picture to black and removed all club photos from Instagram as he pushes for an exit.

The 28-year-old wants to join Newcastle, but Brentford are blocking the move unless their £60m+ valuation is met. He was previously told he could leave for £26m after last season.

This saga could have a ripple effect on Liverpool’s pursuit of Alexander Isak – if Newcastle can’t land Wissa or another striker, a deal for Isak looks unlikely this summer.
