Manchester United players seemingly agree with head coach Ruben Amorim that they are progressing, despite their 1-0 defeat to Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.

A lone Riccardo Calafiori goal, after 13 minutes, is all that split the two teams at Old Trafford in their first Premier League match of the season. Amorim told Sky Sports afterwards that United "were the better team," and "clearly deserved a different result."

The Manchester Evening News have since reported that dressing room sources said the United squad felt the performance was "much better" than most of their home matches last season. Players have, now, indicated the optimism through social media.

"Disappointing result after all the hard effort by the team yesterday, but we're on the right path," Patrick Dorgu captioned an Instagram post on Monday afternoon. Benjamin Sesko shared a similar sentiment on Sunday night.

"I'm proud to make my debut at Old Trafford, the Theatre of Dreams," his message began. "It wasn't our day today, a tough and unlucky game, but we will keep pushing forward and giving our best together. This is only the beginning! Come on, Manchester United!"

Casemiro also said in the mixed zone afterwards: "I think that we have shown good moments, and we have played much better today, but we have to look for the victory. We are on the right path now; we have a good connection, and that's the path we are taking."

Bruno Fernandes also had a similar assessment when speaking to Sky Sports: "We created some chances, but we didn't score, so that is the main negative of the day."

The United captain added: "We have a big hope for what we want to do and what we want to achieve. There are positive things to look at." Fernandes also told MUTV: "I think it's always good to see things from this game to take forward and try to replicate that, but obviously trying to get goals and win the game."
