Newcastle United transfer target Yoane Wissa has reportedly taken action as his cross-Premier League switch from Brentford remains halted. It has been claimed that the Magpies are being denied their latest piece of business in the window due to Keith Andrews' side desire to add reinforcements following the departure of Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United.

Eddie Howe has been forced to endure a frustrating summer after missing out on several transfer targets. Already, Newcastle have been met with failure in their pursuits of Hugo Ekitike and Benjamin Sesko, who turned down North East moves in favour of the North West.

Their frustration comes amid the ongoing saga surrounding record-signing Alexander Isak over a move to Liverpool, which has left him banished from the squad with no plans for reintegration at present - leaving Newcastle short in attacking areas.

Now, journalists Ben Jacobs and Alex Crook are reporting that Wissa's move to St James' Park is currently being blocked which has sparked anger from the player.

As a result, the 28-year-old has taken the steps of unfollowing the Bees on social media, changing his profile picture to default and deleting all imagery related to the club on his Instagram account.

It has been claimed that Brentford won't engage in talks over an exit unless their valuation, in excess of £60million, is met despite informing the player they would entertain negotiations over a sale.

Further to the report, it has been suggested that Wissa was told last year he could leave for £26million after committing last season following Ivan Toney's move to Al-Ahli.

Brentford are making moves to sign reinforcements, however, with Dango Ouattara becoming their record signing. But Ouattara is though to be viewed as Mbeumo's successor and a new replacement for Wissa must be found.

Jacob Ramsey became the latest arrival at St James' Park and Howe has stated that it doesn't spell the end of their business, he said: "We are still active in the window and we’d love to add one or two players but it really is quality over quantity.

"We don’t want to just add and I don’t think we need to do too much more. We are strong and in certain areas we’ve got good depth and will be able and resilient enough to get through a long, tough season.".
