Timeline revealed for Noah Okafor’s move to Leeds United, player is ‘very tempted’ - journalist

Leeds United’s bid to sign Noah Okafor continues with talks being held over a deal with AC Milan.

Noah Okafor is a forward who can be utilised as a striker or winger and Leeds United are keen to bring him in to add to the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha.

The Whites have signed eight players thus far, but Okafor won’t be the last through the door. It’s also been made clear that Milan are open to selling Okafor this summer after he was loaned to Napoli to end the 2024/25 campaign.

Leeds United News were told of the first hints at Leeds having Okafor interest. It was then stated by Beren Cross that Milan’s Okafor was being looked at by Leeds ahead of the transfer deadline.

Noah Okafor and Leeds update from Sky Sports journalist

Primarily, he is a wide forward off the left. However, Okafor could be one of four final Leeds signings. It was then claimed that more than £13 million is needed to get Okafor, per some reports.

Then, it was revealed this morning that Leeds would have to pay Milan over €20 million for the 25-year-old. However, a bargain fee has since been revealed in Leeds’ pursuit of signing him.

Instead, £13 million for Okafor is the primary fee, although add-ons are likely. It’s already been claimed that Okafor has agreed personal terms with Leeds, but it has also become less clear on that front and there is more work to be done on the transfer.

That is because Italian media believe Okafor to Leeds is close. However, Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg has revealed the latest regarding the situation.

Why Noah Okafor is still weighing up the decision to move to Leeds

Beyond the obvious that AC Milan are one of the giants of European football, Okafor has a decision to make surrounding his place in their pecking order.

However, that is perhaps complicated by left-sided winger Rafael Leao leaving the pitch last night with an injury after 17 minutes. The Portuguese international is arguably Milan’s best player.

Per journalist Jose Rodriguez, the injury has occurred just six days before the start of Serie A. He adds that we’ll see if this affects Okafor’s possible departure to join the West Yorkshire outfit.

That said, he would stand a greater chance of starting and featuring regularly in the Premier League. That is significant because it is a World Cup year for the Swiss international.

Playing regularly for Leeds could serve him well for Switzerland, and it would also be a style of play which is well-suited to Okafor’s transitional strengths on the counter-attack.
