Wantaway striker deletes social media in latest Newcastle United transfer twist

Yoane Wissa is desperate to join Newcastle United despite Brentford toughening their transfer stance.

Yoane Wissa is digging his heels in to force a Newcastle United exit after deleting all references to Brentford on social media.

It is no secret that the Magpies are chasing the DR Congo international as one of their striker targets. An opening £25million bid was rejected earlier this summer, with NewcastleWorld understanding the Bees want around double that amount.T

his recent development has placed the deal in limbo despite Brentford signing Dango Ouattara from Bournemouth. He is thought to have arrived as Bryan Mbeumo’s replacement - leaving Wissa’s future uncertain.

Alexander Isak knock-on effect

In similar fashion, noises from Newcastle’s camp have remained steadfast that Wissa is wanted to succeed Callum Wilson. But if the Magpies signed a striker - of any sorts - this strengthens Liverpool’s hand in the Alexander Isak saga.

Isak remains persona non grata at St James’ Park, training alone at the club’s Benton base once his teammates have gone home. Eddie Howe has kept the door open for a potential return - a situation that becomes increasingly likely with each passing day.

Ironically, Newcastle are preparing to face Liverpool next Monday, with Isak set to dominate the pre-match build-up. Toon fans made their feelings clear on the striker at the full-time whistle at Villa Park.

Yoane Wissa’s drastic action

In a dramatic twist, Brentford hitman Wissa has removed all references to the club on Instagram in a fresh attempt to force their hand. He has also unfollowed the Bees while changing his profile picture to a black circle.

Speaking after their 3-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest, he said: “I don’t see it, I see Dango as Bryan’s replacement in terms of that area of the pitch, I see him as a versatile forward that I am really happy we have managed to get on board.

“We weren’t really aware he would be available, as soon as we knew it was a pretty easy decision to get him on board. Thankfully, the club have been able to do that and it is a really significant investment for us. It will be a brilliant investment.”
