The Atlanta Falcons made multiple roster moves Monday morning, including cutting former Pro Bowl wide receiver D.J. Chark.
A former second-round pick out of LSU, Chark signed with the Falcons in July after previously playing for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Detroit Lions, Carolina Panthers and Los Angeles Chargers during his career.
D.J. Chark earned Pro Bowl honors in 2019 when he caught a career-high 73 passes for 1,008 yards and 8 touchdowns.
Chark has 3,100 receiving yards and is averaging an impressive 14.4 yards per reception for his NFL career, but his production dipped drastically last season.
After catching 35 passes for 525 yards and 5 touchdowns for the Panthers in 2023, Chark appeared in seven games for the Chargers last season, hauling in only 4 passes for 31 yards.
He caught one of his three targets for the Falcons during Friday’s preseason game against the Titans for 11 yards.
In addition to cutting D.J. Chark, the Falcons also waived quarterback Emory Jones on Monday. He was in concussion protocol after completing 2 of 5 passes for 16 yards and rushing 3 times for 10 yards against the Titans on Friday.
The Falcons also added a quarterback to their roster in veteran Ben DiNucci.
DiNucci was drafted in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Cowboys. He has gone on to spend time with the Broncos, Bills, Saints and now Falcons.
