Transfer speculation regarding Coventry City star Jack Rudoni has been rife throughout the summer transfer window.
Coventry City beat Derby County 5-3 at the weekend in a thrilling eight-goal Championship affair.
The dramatic Rams win was one of Frank Lampard’s “favourite games” as Coventry boss, and rightly so for the fighting spirit and quality his side showed to secure the three points.
Coventry’s performance was typified by Liam Kitching’s display in the Derby win, which came after the defender’s wife had been taken to hospital in labour on Friday evening.
Jack Rudoni featured for Coventry against the Rams despite the talks over his potential exit this window, and now his future has become “clear”.

Jack Rudoni makes ‘clear’ decision on his Coventry City future
In the build-up to the Derby win, recently relegated Southampton made an approach for Rudoni, who scored ten goals and notched 13 assists in 50 games for Coventry last season.
EFL Analysis previously reported that Coventry were prepared to sell Rudoni, but were more inclined to let the midfielder depart for a Premier League side rather than a Championship rival such as the Saints.
After reports emerged earlier in August that Newcastle United were eyeing Rudoni, EFL Analysis exclusively revealed that Lampard told Coventry chiefs to keep Rudoni amid the Magpies links, given his importance to their promotion push.
Now, it appears that the Sky Blues boss has had his Rudoni wish granted, with the midfielder making his intent to remain at the CBS Arena beyond the window “clear”.
Journalist Sam Cohen revealed on X: “Told Jack Rudoni has made it clear he wants to remain at Coventry City for this season at least.

“Southampton showed interest with an approach earlier in the window, but Rudoni is very happy at Coventry and it would take a special offer for any move to St Mary’s to materialise.”
The Coventry faithful will be elated to see an end to the Rudoni transfer speculation, and equally, Lampard will be delighted that his star pupil is set to stay for at least another season.

Jack Rudoni will want to continue learning from Frank Lampard
Lampard was one of the best attacking midfielders of his generation throughout his time as a serial winner with Chelsea.
Rudoni and Lampard share a similar style of play, and although it remains to be seen whether the Coventry ace will reach the heights that his manager did, Rudoni enjoyed his best season to date under Lampard’s tutelage.
Ahead of their eventual play-off semi-final defeat to Sunderland, Rudoni told the BBC of Lampard: “I’ve learned a lot in the short time working with him.
“[We] work together on the pitch, and he helps me with goal scoring and getting into the area with different types of finishes.
“I had a real eagerness to learn everything off him. He’s done everything in the game, and he’s the best at it from midfield.
“He was my favourite player growing up. There’s no one better to work with, especially with finishing.”
Rudoni’s final goal of last season came in the first leg against Sunderland, which preceded Coventry’s last-second loss in the second leg.
After Rudoni concluded the campaign in tears on Lampard’s shoulder, both he and his Coventry boss will be hoping to go one better together this term.
