Wolves increase £26m price tag on wantaway striker as two clubs looking to land transferr as…

While losing Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait Nouri were major blows, there are fringe players whom Wolves won’t miss if they are sold.

Incomings should be the priority at Wolves, but that doesn’t mean the club should stop trying to get rid of deadwood either.

One player who seems to be halfway out the door at Molineux is Fabio Silva, who wants to leave the club after signing five seasons ago.

Both Wolves and Silva expected a move away to happen, but so far nothing has come of it.

Negotiations for the player to leave have been tough, as Wolves have been stubborn about their valuation of the player. However, it seems they have changed it, but not to the benefit of potential suitors.

Wolves have increased their £26m Fabio Silva asking price after Borussia Dortmund and AS Roma interest

Borussia Dortmund have made their interest in Fabio Silva known this transfer window. Dortmund have sent three bids for Silva, but each has been rejected.

AS Roma are also said to be interested in Silva, and Wolves are reportedly using that to their advantage.

According to a report from BILD, Wolves have now increased their Fabio Silva price tag due to AS Roma’s interest.

The report says that due to interest from both Borussia Dortmund and AS Roma, “A transfer fee of between €25 and €30 million (£21.5 million and £26 million) is apparently no longer sufficient.”

It was previously thought that Dortmund pulled out of the Fabio Silva deal, but BILD suggests they are still “actively pursuing”.

This also isn’t the first time that Wolves have changed their valuation of Silva, and the potential prospect of a bidding war may be what Fosun are attempting to do.

Wolves need to reinvest potential Fabio Silva fee

Fabio Silva’s time at Wolves has been far from a success. At the time, the club spent a club record £35 million on a deal for the Portuguese striker, and it is fair to say they haven’t got their money’s worth.

Any potential fee for Silva needs to be invested back into the squad, as Wolves are still in need of higher quality in their forward department.

The forward scored just five goals in 72 appearances for the Old Gold and has been sent out on loan four times throughout his career in England.

If the Molineux club are able to negotiate a fee larger than £26 million, that would be some of the best business they have completed this window.

Having some more money in the bank could allow them to increase the options they have at their disposal and finally land a player to help Jorgen Strand Larsen lead the line.
