REPORT: Real Madrid Star Told He Has '7 To 8 Days' To Decide On Man City Transfer

Man City won’t wait until deadline day to sign Real Madrid forward Rodrygo, according to reports in the Spanish media.

Defensa Central claim that the Brazilian’s entourage have been told that the player now only has “7 to 8 days” to decide or the Cityzens will end their interest in the player.

Rodrygo has yet to make up his mind on whether he wants to leave Real, despite not being a key part of Xabi Alonso’s first-team plans.

The Spanish side begin their domestic campaign against Osasuna on Tuesday evening and the 24-year-old is not expected to be named in the starting lineup for the game.

Why are Man City rushing Rodrygo into a decision?

Manager Pep Guardiola does not want to be left short of wingers at the end of the transfer window, and with the deal hinging on selling Savinho to Tottenham, he will not offload the 21-year-old without a guaranteed replacement.

It is believed that the Cityzens have already rejected several bids from Spurs, but Thomas Frank’s side are expected to make another offer before the end of the month.

Are alternatives to Rodrygo being explored?

There were links to RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons but the Dutchman reportedly prefers a move to Chelsea. Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche is also on the Manchester club’s radar but they have not firmed up their interest yet.

The most likely scenario is that Savinho will be told to stay at the Etihad this summer if it becomes clear that a move for Rodrygo is unlikely.

While the Real Madrid forward could still end up joining another Premier League team, with both Arsenal and Liverpool having been mentioned as potential suitors, it does appear as if City are the frontrunners for his signature IF he opts to leave Spain.
