Max Wober endured a debut to forget for Werder Bremen. The versatile defender, on a season-long loan from Leeds United, picked up a muscle injury in their DFB Pokal first round loss to Arminia Bielefeld.
The Bundesliga club released a statement confirming Wober sustained a thigh/hamstring injury and will be out of action for a number of weeks. The Austrian international lined up at left-back but was forced off in the 79th minute of Friday's clash. He was replaced by Olivier Deman as Bremen crashed to a 1-0 defeat.
German outlet Deich Stube states the Bundesliga club plan to ramp up their search for full-back reinforcements. The report says two new full-backs could come in before the transfer window closes, with Eintracht Frankfurt’s Elias Baum named as possible option.
It is no secret Bremen want to sign United defender Isaac Schmidt. He will only be allowed to leave Elland Road if the Whites are successful in their quest to bring in a new full-back. A move for James Justin is in doubt after the Leicester City star sustained a knock in their loss to Preston North End over the weekend. Eintracht Frankfurt’s Elias Baum
Daniel Farke is desperate to bolster his squad over the next fortnight to boost their Premier League survival aspirations. The Elland Road club have so far signed eight new players this summer, spending over £70m.
"Overall I'm really happy with the recruitment we have made to date," said United boss Farke. "I feel we have a really solid base and the new signings have really integrated well into the group and strengthened us.
"We know there is still more to be done and we certainly won't fall asleep in the market."
